Stange moves to SV Elversberg on loan
The 18-year-old attacker has joined the second-tier Saarland side for the 2025/26 season.
The Hamburger SV board has decided to make another personnel decision before the summer transfer window closes. Otto Stange will represent Bundesliga 2 team SV Elversberg for the remainder of the 2025/26 season. Both sides agreed to the deal on Monday. At the second-division club, the 18-year-old will have the chance to build on the promise he has showed over the past couple of years, making his first appearances and scoring his first goals for the Rothosen. “With the loan to SV Elversberg, we’ve found the perfect solution for continuing Otto’s development with regard to playing time. SVE have garnered a reputation as a good location for loanees, meaning Otto will be in good hands there,” emphasised director of football Claus Costa. “We’ll be in close contact with our counterparts at Elversberg as the season progresses, so that we can be there for every step of his development. We wish Otto all the very best and are convinced that this loan will pay off for all parties.”
Born in Hamburg with a connection to HSV
Hamburg-born Otto Emerson Stange has been playing for the Rothosen since he was 15. He moved to HSV’s youth academy after stints at SC Victoria Hamburg (2013-17) and Eimsbütteler TV (2017-22). There, he caused a stir straightaway. By the end of October 2023, the youngster had already trained with the first team and was steadily getting closer to making the step up to the senior team. Last season, Stange was a regular fixture for the Rothosen, scoring two goals in 14 matches in the 2. Bundesliga. On 29th August, the second-youngest goalscorer for HSV since the inception of the Bundesliga in 1963 made his Bundesliga debut for the Rothosen.
Stange is looking forward to a new challenge at SVE: “I still have a lot planned for my future at HSV. In the short term, I’m focusing on getting as much playing time as possible, and that’s why I’m really happy that we’ve found a great solution after some productive talks with the management. I know two guys at Elversberg, Lukas Poreba and Luis Seifert, who I’ve already played with here. I’m looking forward to it!”
