"The disappointment is huge"

HSV lost 0-1 at SC Freiburg – a bitter blow which captain Johan Djourou and his men are having trouble digesting. Here the post-match reaction to the Bundesliga matchday 4 defeat in the Black Forest.

The players stood on the pitch stunned and gutted after the final whistle was blow on the 0-1 defeat at newly-promoted SC Freiburg on Tuesday night. Once again the killer goal came after the break and once again it was scored by a substitute. Rothosen keeper Rene Adler knows his mistake cost the team the game but he was not the only reason for the defeat. Here the reaction from the mixed zone after the game.

Bruno Labbadia: We had made our plans and of course the disappointment is huge. It is not a nice situation especially because this defeat was so unneccary. We were unable to play our game for 90 minutes and suffered the consequences.

Dietmar Beiersdorfer: There is deep frustration so soon after the game. We represented HSV poorly here, especially with our second half performance. We simply don’t create enough scoring chances so one individual mistake is usually enough for us to lose a game like this. We have to now digest this unacceptable performance.

Rene Adler: I take full responsibility for the defeat. I should have caught the ball. It was my mistake and had I not made it we could have at least taken a point from the game. You are measured on results and we are not providing them right now. We just can’t do it right at the moment. Sadly we have not found the reasons for it.

Johan Djourou: The disappointment is of course massive. We are too hectic and fail to create enough scoring chances. That is unacceptable and must be quickly improved.
