Training and team photos
As part of their training camp in Herzogenaurach, HSV held a public training session in front of roughly 400 spectators at the Adi-Dassler-Sportplatz. The focus was on the attack, as well as proximity to the fans.
Whipped crosses from Dompe and powerful headers from Poulsen. Pinpoint passes from Rössing-Lelesiit and precise volleys from Königsdörffer. Acute assists from Reimers and ice-cold finishes from Glatzel. On Thursday morning, onlookers saw the Rothosen do all of this, as they got down to business at the Adi-Dassler-Sportplatz during their training camp in Herzogenaurach. During the session, attacking was on the agenda, with the players completing crossing and shooting drills. It was a dream – not just for Rothosen strikers Yussuf Poulsen, Robert Glatzel and Ransford Königsdörffer, but also for the roughly 400 fans in the stands of the stadium, named after adidas founder “Adi” Dassler. After all, it’s most fun to watch as a spectator while drills like this are taking place.

In order to create proximity with the fans, Hamburger SV announced that Thursday’s training session would take place publicly alongside Wednesday’s fan afternoon, which was a complete success with over 600 attendees. The players slogged away on the pitch for 70 minutes and went to chat with the fans after the session came to a close. The highlight was a full team photo with the most dedicated supporters. Then, the HSV players cycled back to nearby Homeground-Areal, with a second training session on the “Homefield” awaiting Polzin’s squad in the afternoon. Unfortunately, this second shift took place behind closed doors, but with the tried and tested combination of assist providers and finishers.
