Training of different kind

The HSV players had a training session out of the ordinary on Tuesday as they competed against in a variety of fun games.

Despite nine members of the squad being away on international duty, training went ahead as usual at the Volksparkstadion, with the next league game being just over two weeks away against VfL Bochum. In order to change up the normal training routine, HSV coach Christian Titz and the coaching staff decided to introduce something exciting to training on Tuesday. Instead of working on tactical discipline, the focus of the session was on team bonding. Die Rothosen worked in four teams of four on different games with the ball.

With 200 fans watching on, the squad started off the session with some football tennis. There was a lot of enthusiasm as well as commitment on show. After this was over, there were some games of beach volleyball. Halfway through the session, the squad then went into the Alexander-Otto-Akademie building for some indoor football tennis. The fourth and final activity involved the players trying to get the ball into a bin without letting it bounce. It was obvious that the squad enjoyed today’s training session.

For Titz, the aim of the session was to introduce some competitive feelings to the players. Titz also created a forfeit for the losing players to further emphasise the competition. The losing team were Lewis Holtby, Tatsuya Ito, Doulgas Santos and Julian Pollersbeck, who had to cook a meal for the rest of the team the following day. It was a very successful day for all involved.
