Two Rothosen book their tickets to the 2026 World Cup
Luka Vuskovic and Miro Muheim are heading to the World Cup, with both Croatia and Switzerland having successfully qualified for next summer’s tournament. Three of their HSV teammates will be taking part in the play-offs in the hopes of joining them.
The final international break of the year is over, with both Miro Muheim and Luka Vuskovic having successfully qualified for the 2026 World Cup with their respective national teams. Vuskovic and Croatia booked their ticket with a match to spare, while Muheim and Switzerland did so following a 1-1 draw with Kosovo on the final matchday.
Muheim was an unused substitute against Kosovo, having provided an assist during a 20-minute cameo in their previous match against Sweden. Vuskovic had left Croatia’s senior side following their successful qualification to join up with their U21s. He played the full 90 minutes and contributed an assist in their 2-0 win against Hungary U21s on Tuesday evening.
Elsewhere, Fabio Balde was an unused substitute in Czechia U21’s 0-0 draw against Portugal U21s. Giorgi Gocholeishvili was also in action on Tuesday evening with Georgia, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat in Bulgaria. Unfortunately for Gocholeishvili, Georgia no longer have a chance of heading to next summer’s tournament. Three of his HSV teammates — Emir Sahiti, Immanuel Pherai and Yussuf Poulsen — all still have chances of qualifying, however, as they have reached the play-offs with their respective sides. With the international break behind them, HSV are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Hamburg, as preparations continue for the upcoming away game in Augsburg.
