Vagnoman and Fein selected for German under-21 squad

The 18-year-old right-back and 20-year-old midfielder have been called-up to Stefan Kuntz’s squad for the upcoming games against Spain and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

HSV player Josha Vagnoman has received yet more recognition from the German FA, earning his first call-up to the German under-21 national side after a string of promising performances for the Rothosen at right-back. The injury to Jan Gyamerah meant that the full-back’s berth was open and the 18-year-old has very much made it his own, most obviously with his first goal for the club in the last home game against Aue. “Josha Vagnoman has very much earned his call-up after his recent performances for HSV. We want to make the transition between the under-20 and under-21 sides a lot smoother for the upcoming cycles,” under-21 manager Stefan Kuntz explained. Vagnoman, having already collected seven appearances with the eagle on his chest, was also thrilled with his first call-up for the under-21s: “For me it’s a sign that I’m on the right track. I am going to try to put in good performances. The call-up is additional motivation for me to continue doing what I’m doing.”

Alongside Josha Vagnoman, fellow HSV teammate Adrian Fein has once again been chosen by Kuntz for the upcoming games against Spain (10th October) and Bosnia & Herzegovina (15th October). The 20-year-old was able to carry over his fine club form for his country, impressing with a goal and an assist as Germany ran out 5-1 winners in Wrexham against Wales.
