"We want to get it back…"
At the press conference ahead of HSV’s matchday 18 game at FC Ingolstadt on Saturday (28.01.17, 3.30 PM), Rothosen coach Markus Gisdol talked about team selection, his expectations from the game and the football philosophy of both teams.
Markus Gisdol and his charges officially begin the second half of the season away to FC Ingolstadt on Saturday. With the home side being close to their visitors in the lower reaches of the Bundesliga table the clash is being described by some as a “six-pointer”. Gisdol told the media: “The team is focused and well prepared for the game.” The coach refused to put any special emphasis on the game. He said: “When you are in our situation it doesn’t matter who you play. Pressure is always there and points are the most important thing in every game. We want to get back the points lost against Wolfsburg last time out.”
Markus Gisdol on…
… team selection: Gideon Jung fully trained and his foot showed no negative reaction. The medical team have done a great job and he is available for selection. Gotoku Sakai and Nicolai Müller picked up slight knocks against Wolfsburg. Sakai has trained without any problems while Müller is a doubt because of abdominal bruising. The game comes a little early for Rene Adler to make the squad.
… FC Ingolstadt: After changing coaches they have reverted back to the things which once made them strong. They play with aggression and switch quickly from defence to attack which makes them tough opposition for any team. They are a good side so we have a huge task on Saturday. We though are well prepared and want to take something home from the game.
… set pieces: We don’t have any specialists in our team andit is vital the way the ball is played into the danger zone. We have without doubt room forimprovement there and are trying different things out. Ingolstadt on the other hand are known for scoring from them, so we will have to heed any warning signs. Statistically speaking we defend set pieces well.
… further new signings: We must remain calm even though the January transfer window is about to close. We don’t want to make any silly decisions but only react when you are convinced it is the right thing to do. We already have a competitive team.
… defensive midfield: It is no secret that we are looking for someone top lay there and would like to sign someone. We must however also say that we have won points with Gotoku Sakai and Matthias Ostrzolek playing together there. Gideon Jung and Vasilije Janjicic can also do the job, so there are many possible variations to consider. Whoever is picked will do a good job I am sure.
… HSV’s own game: We want to carry on recent good performances. It will be important to win second ball in tight midfield situations. I expect a game like the one in Darmstadt with a lot of aerial duels but Ingolstadt are good in the air as well as switching from defence to attack. Like I said we want to recuperate the points we dropped in Wolfsburg.
