NXP Lounge: The first step towards the Smart Stadium

Innovative technologies from exclusive partner NXP are already being used in the VIP area of the Volkspark Stadium. In the future, further applications could follow to simplify the stadium experience.

For the home match against Holstein Kiel last match day, HSV presented its guests in the VIP area of the Volksparkstadion with the newly designed NXP Lounge. Together with exclusive partner NXP, an area was created on the third floor of the stadium's east stand which, on the one hand, has a modern and stylish design, but, on the other hand, is particularly inspiring with innovative technology.

Interactive elements such as smart tables and NFC screens provide up-to-date information about HSV and the match day and invite visitors to communicate in a playful way. Every guest receives an NFC chip in the admission wristband, which makes it easy to use these innovative possibilities.

"You can see many examples of how to use NXP technology in the lounge. We have realised various demos here and want to have more to follow in the future. The atmosphere is very homely and at the same time modern and sporty. I have the feeling that the HSV fans feel extremely comfortable here," says Michael Hoffmann from the management of NXP Germany, who personally gained an impression at the home match against Kiel.

Torsten Spinty, also a member of the management board of the technology company, which has been in business for more than 60 years, adds: "The NXP Lounge is a good first milestone. But we still have many more ideas in mind and hope to inspire HSV fans step by step and set a few new accents."

For the match against Holstein Kiel, NXP presented some guests with one of the future uses of the technology to simplify the stadium experience. With the help of an NFC chip from NXP integrated into the scarf, access to the stadium and the VIP area was made secure and convenient. It could also be used to access further information via the screens in the lounge.

"I can look at the line-up and evaluate it via the chip. I can interact with the coach as if I were there. Everyone in the lounge is interested in this and uses the technology, which will be an integral part of everyday life in the future. We have a goal to modernise our stadium. We can hardly imagine a better partnership than NXP on the subject of the Smart Stadium," says HSV board member Eric Huwer.

"Wherever a lot of people move, safety and convenience is a very important thing. We try to simplify things with our technology and look forward to many more possible applications," says Torsten Spinty, looking forward to the future with excitement.

The newly designed NXP Lounge is already a first step in this direction.
