Kathleen Krüger has been Director of Football at HSV Fußball Management AG since July 2026. She is responsible for all sporting matters at Hamburger SV.

Krüger, who grew up near Munich in 1986, previously spent a total of 17 years in various roles at FC Bayern München. After ending her playing career, she moved into management at the German record champions in 2009. A graduate of the DFL/DFB programme “Management in Professional Football”, she initially worked as an assistant to the board before taking charge of the professional team’s management for many years from 2012 onwards.

In this role, Krüger worked with coaches such as Jupp Heynckes, Hansi Flick, Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola, and was highly regarded within the team. Most recently, as “Senior Leading Expert Sport Strategy & Development”, she was responsible for the sporting strategy and structural development of FC Bayern Munich. With her move to Hamburger SV, Krüger became the first female sporting director in Bundesliga history.

Eric Huwer has been a member of the board of HSV Fußball Management AG since January 2023. He is responsible for finance, organisation, human resources and legal affairs.

Born on 22 October 1983 in Saarland, Huwer had previously spent eight years in various management roles at HSV. A graduate in business administration with a PhD, he studied business administration in Saarbrücken and Valencia, completed an MBA in sports management in Bayreuth and obtained the first FIFA Diploma in Club Management. He obtained his doctorate on the subject of accounting issues in professional football clubs, graduating summa cum laude.

As part of his work at the Chair of Banking and the Institute for Business Taxation and Entrepreneurship between 2008 and 2013, Huwer published various academic papers and, until recently, lectured at numerous universities on various aspects of financial and sports management. Before joining HSV in Hamburg in October 2014, Huwer had been working since 2013 as an advisor to the Executive Board for Market Management at Allianz AG in Munich.
