Right next to the Volksparkstadion, HSV honours 55 individuals on its “Walk of Fame” who have left a lasting mark on the club’s history – immortalised with their handprints or footprints.
HSV stands for tradition – and remains committed to preserving it. The “Walk of Fame” outside Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion is dedicated to HSV legends and commemorates exceptional players and officials who have shaped the Rothosen over the years. Surrounding the famous Uwe Seeler foot monument near the stadium’s north-east ramp, the gallery already features 55 former HSV greats.
Since the Walk of Fame was established in 2005, the selected personalities have been immortalised here with their handprints or footprints. Hamburg entrepreneur Andreas Maske has played a major role in the project and has been a loyal supporter of the initiative since its inception. “We want to honour HSV personalities who have left a special mark – in some cases because of their achievements, but also because of their popularity or other contributions to the club,” says Maske.
The Walk of Fame is regularly expanded, with the new inductees selected by a jury consisting of Maske, a former HSV reporter, two representatives of the HSV-Ehrenliga and a member of the Supporters Club’s departmental management. The jury decides who will be honoured following extensive discussions.
“It is important to us that nominations for the Walk of Fame come from across the entire HSV community – from members and fans as well as from the club’s councils of elders and senior members. From these nominations, we will select the individuals to be honoured,” says Christian Pletz, who is responsible for the HSV-Ehrenliga.
