Joining the United Nations Global Compact
Hamburger SV has become the second German football club to join the United Nations Global Compact. This United Nations initiative is driven by the vision of a sustainable economy that benefits everyone.
As a sports club, we recognise the importance of rules for working together. As part of our activities, we take responsibility for ensuring these rules are followed.

HSV Fußball AG & Co. KGaA and Hamburger Sport-Verein e.V. are participants in the United Nations Global Compact.
By joining at the end of 2022, both organisations have committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact. As a global alliance of companies and organisations, this initiative creates a unique framework for exchanging ideas and driving change. In addition to environmental protection, these principles also cover human rights, labour standards and the prevention of corruption.
As a participant, HSV Fußball AG & Co. KGaA has undertaken to publish an annual progress report. The ‘Letter of Commitment’ and the ‘Communication on Progress’ are available here:

HSV has established a comprehensive child and youth protection system.
This applies to both sporting and non-sporting contexts. In developing the child and youth protection policy, all departments responsible for looking after and/or training children, teenagers and young adults were involved, alongside the youth academy. The terms and conditions of purchase for goods, services and works include, amongst other things, a clause on ‘Compliance with regulations, Code of Conduct – working conditions, environmental protection, protection of minors, and protection of employees’.
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is an internationally recognised standard for the preparation of sustainability reports.
In its 2022/23, 2023/24 and 2024/25 sustainability reports, HSV Fußball AG & Co. KGaA provided information – in accordance with the GRI standards – on its organisational profile, its employees, its corporate governance, its recorded greenhouse gas emissions and its economic performance.
