The HSV Museum at the Volksparkstadion brings the more than 135-year history of Hamburger SV to life with unique exhibits, multimedia presentations, and touching stories.
Since its opening in 2004, the HSV Museum at the Volksparkstadion has invited visitors to immerse themselves in the eventful, more than 135-year history of Hamburger SV across approximately 700 square meters. Multimedia presentations, historical exhibits, and unique memorabilia tell the story of great triumphs, formative personalities, emotional moments, and also difficult chapters in the club’s history. The exhibition is based on the extensive HSV archive, whose holdings date back to the 19th century. As a permanent fixture of Hamburg’s museum landscape, the HSV Museum connects sports, city, and contemporary history, bringing HSV’s identity to life in a special way.

The archive forms the foundation of HSV’s museum collection. The club’s collection survived the Second World War almost unscathed, and its holdings date back to the 19th century today.
Thanks to the careful upkeep of the archive, numerous rare exhibits have been preserved. These include unique editions of “Turnen, Spiel & Sport” as well as other annual press volumes from the 1910s. The oldest exhibit is the championship trophy of the Hamburg-Altona Football Association, won by SC Germania in 1900. In total, the archive comprises around 20,000 objects.
An important project for the future is the complete digitization of the collection. The foundation for this was already laid in 2013 and has been consistently pursued ever since.
To continue comprehensively documenting the history of Hamburger SV and to keep expanding the collection, the archive welcomes further historical exhibits and memorabilia from the club’s community.
