HSV PILGRIM TRAIL

Welcome to the HSV Pilgrim Trail! The 18.87-kilometer trail passes 17 historic and present-day locations connected to our HSV. How did football even come to the Hanseatic city of Hamburg? Where were the first matches played? What does the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten have to do with HSV? And why a pilgrim trail with an HSV connection? 

More and more people are going on pilgrimages. They follow famous routes to significant sacred places and sites. In doing so, history comes alive and one forms an inner connection with particular saints. A trail can be walked alone, in groups, as a challenge, as an event, for reflection, or to promote health. Along the way, you meet like-minded people and form a temporary community. 

The blue-white-black pilgrim trail seeks to build on this idea. The concept, created by Anna Stöcken, who has been a fan and volunteer supporter of HSV for many years, has now been realized together with the HSV Museum and the Supporters Club. 

Much of what is said about pilgrims also applies to fans. They make their pilgrimage to the stadium on matchday. Through the HSV Pilgrim Trail, the club and its history become tangible throughout the city of Hamburg. HSV doesn’t just serve as an ambassador here – the trail itself represents the club. Every station has the goal of making HSV visible and tangible throughout Hamburg. 

On the HSV Pilgrim Trail, HSV fans can set out together, meet other fans, or walk it alone. The trail and the act of walking naturally also serve physical activity and, above all, health. Especially in times of pandemic, they provide an important source of balance. In addition, the trail allows HSV fans who don’t live in Hamburg to get to know the city from a different side, or to experience it differently as a tourist. 

The stations: There are 17 stations, ranging from the Landungsbrücken via the Kiez, the Rathaus (city hall), the Moorweide, and Stadion Hoheluft to the Volksparkstadion.
