HSV sign goalkeeper Fernando Dickes
Hamburger SV have completed the signing of the Germany U18 goalkeeper from RB Leipzig. Claus Costa: “We’re pleased that we had the opportunity to sign him and that Fernando decided to join HSV.”
Goalkeeper Fernando Dickes has joined Hamburger SV from RB Leipzig’s academy. The 17-year-old will arrive in Hamburg for the 2025/26 season, where he will train with the first team, as well as pick up some valuable minutes while playing for the club’s academy sides. “Fernando has some extremely exciting attributes, combining a modern, well-balanced goalkeeping style with excellent physical qualities,” said director of football Claus Costa.

Dickes, who stands at 1.93 metres, has already trained with RB Leipzig’s first team and made 26 appearances in total for their U19 side last season, including four games in the UEFA Youth League. “Our goalkeeper scouts have closely followed his development over the last few years. We’re pleased that we had the opportunity to sign him and that Fernando decided to join HSV,” commented Costa, with HSV’s board member for sport Stefan Kuntz adding: “We see a lot of potential in Fernando, which we now want to help him unlock together.” Dickes was born in Halle and moved to Leipzig in 2020, playing 71 competitive games for their academy in total. He will turn 18 on 13th October. “I’m looking forward to the chance of continuing my development at HSV and I can’t wait to get started,” stated Dickes.
