"It will be a very interesting game"
In the press conference before the second division home match against 1. FC Magdeburg, HSV coach Tim Walter talked about the tight personnel situation and the duel between two ball-oriented teams, among other things.
After the Stadtderby at FC St. Pauli (0:3) last Friday and the DFB Pokal match at RB Leipzig (0:4) during the week, the second league home match against promoted 1. FC Magdeburg rounds off the English week on Sunday (live on HSVnetradio from 1.15 pm). The Rothosen are desperate to come away from this week with a sense of achievement, which has so far seen bitter defeats and personnel setbacks. "It's a chance for everyone. I'm not complaining. We have a good squad, the boys can show what they've got," Tim Walter explained at a press conference this Friday afternoon.
The 46-year-old spoke in detail about ...
... Robert Glatzel's condition: "Bobby still has back problems. Sometimes it's better, sometimes worse. He tries to torture himself through it. It's an injury where nothing can happen. Nevertheless, he has a feeling in his back, which makes him a bit ponderous. If he doesn't feel he can help us 100 per cent, then there's no point. Unlike the toe, for example, it is also difficult to anaesthetise locally here.
... his expectations for the game: Both teams have very, very much possession. Christian Titz is doing a good job in Magdeburg. He has risen with the club and has developed an identity. As a result, 1. FC Magdeburg has its own style of play, just like us - that doesn't happen so often in football anymore. That's why I think it's good that this philosophy is being carried through there. It will be a very interesting game in which we want to have the upper hand in the end. We want to put our stamp on the game. We want to play the opponent. That will be the key. Whoever has more control will leave the pitch as the winner. At the same time, it's also about converting our counter-pressing and counter-attacking situations into goals better.
"It's a chance for everyone. I'm not complaining. We have a good squad, the boys can show what they are capable of."
... own style of play: "How we play football and the path that has brought us there have led to us having an identity that our players and spectators can identify with. We always draw our lessons from positive as well as negative experiences and always adapt situationally. Nevertheless, we stand for something and continue to go our way.
... William Mikelbrencis: He doesn't understand the language very well yet and our idea of the game is something completely new for him. Nevertheless, every player in our squad has the potential to play. He is nominally the one who takes Moritz Heyer's position. It is also clear that "Mo", just like "Bascho", "Baka" and "Bobby", cannot be replaced in passing. It's a chance for everyone. I'm not complaining. We have a good squad, the guys can show what they've got. I'm looking forward to it, especially in front of such a big crowd.
