Match Preview vs Hansa Rostock
A north easternly breeze is heading towards the Volksparkstadion with FC Hansa Rostock our visitors for the final game in the Hinrunde.
Two draws in successive matches for FCH and a loss against strugglers Erzgebirge Aue should have the newly promoted side eager to end the first half of fixtures on a high when they visit the Volksparkstadion this Sunday.
Likewise, following the 1-0 defeat away to Hannover 96, the Rothosen will equally be looking to get back to winning ways after just a second defeat of the 2.Liga season.
It will be the first time the sides have faced each other in a competitive fixtures for 13 years. A 3-1 win for HSV when the teams met at the Ostseestadion in the Bundesliga. More reason that this could be an exciting fixture.
Opponents Focus:
The third newcomers to the league that we will play this season, Jens Härtel’s side have only suffered one loss in their last six games (All Competitions) and will visit the Volksparkstadion with the hope of making that run continue.
A side that this time last season were sitting in 8th position of the 3.Liga, bounced back to finish comfortably in second place and gain promotion with an impressive away record. The North East side have bolstered their squad impressively with signings of former 2.Liga quality players Streli Mamba and Hanno Behrens recruited this summer.
Last time out was a 1-1 draw against fellow newly promoted side FC Ingolstadt for the Cogge.
HSV News:
A first defeat since the third matchday of the season stopped an impressive unbeaten run for the Rothosen. HSV fell to a 1-0 defeat to Niedersachsen side Hannover 96 at the HDI Arena.
On the Personel front no big changes to the HSV side since the last match. Muheim missed out late against H96. During the Friday press conference Head Coach said this about the current situation. “Jonas David will not be fit until Sunday. Otherwise, everything will remain the same. The boys who were and are injured are unfortunately still not available. We are waiting and hoping for the next week.”
The Match Facts :
First meeting in the 2.Liga
HSV and FC Hansa Rostock have met 24 times in competitive matches so far. However, all of the duels between the two clubs took place in the Bundesliga. The last meeting in the Bundesliga dates back to the 2007/08 season, when HSV won 3:1 (2:0) in Rostock on matchday 31 (3 May 2008) after goals from Ivica Olic (2) and Rafael van der Vaart, with Joris Mathijsen scoring an own goal. So now we are ready for the first 2.Liga meeting.
Jatta approaches 100th 2.Liga game
Bakery Jatta is about to celebrate a jubilee in the 2. Bundesliga. If the Gambian is called into action against Rostock, it will be his 100th game in the lower division. So far, Jatta has been used in every one of the 16th games of the season (2 goals, 3 assists). In total, he has already played 123 competitive games for HSV. He scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists
Strong away days in promotion
In the 2020/21 promotion season, Hansa Rostock were the best away team in the 3. Liga. With only 15 goals conceded and 23 goals of their own, the Ostseestädter picked up ten wins and five draws with only four defeats. In the current season, their record on foreign soil has been balanced so far: 3 wins and 3 defeats and 3 draws. In the northern duels it has been a case of top or bottom so far. A win in Hannover (2nd game, 3:0) was followed by a defeat in Bremen (5th game, 0:3), the success in Kiel (9th game, 2:0) was followed by a loss at FC St. Pauli (11th game, 0:4). Accordingly, a victory could now follow. HSV is warned.
