Match Preview vs Hansa Rostock
The grind never stops. Up next, is a trip to the east, on Sunday we take on FC Hansa Rostock.
Following on from the restart to the 2. Bundesliga, HSV head east on Sunday afternoon for the first away game of 2023. Rostock is the destination where Tim Walter and his side will look to take home all three points.

Our Opponents:
FC Hansa Rostock, although started the season brightly sit currently in 9th position which is only 4 points from the relegation places. Jens Härtel stay at the Ostseestadion ended just as the football season entered the World Cup break. His replacement, Patrick Glöckner was unable to get Die Cogge off to the perfect start, falling to a 2-0 defeat against 1. FC Heidenheim on Saturday afternoon. Despite this, Hansa were able to capitalise early on in the season defeating HSV with a late goal to take back three points. With this in mind Walter and his side will be looking out for revenge come Sunday afternoon.

HSV Round Up:
We made a return to football, finally. This week following on from our 4-2 victory over Eintracht Braunschweig, all eyes are firmly on Sundays task in Rostock. Back in the rhythm of weekly football, the side have trained hard all week in preparation for what is normally a tough away day. “We expect a heated atmosphere and are looking forward to it. We like such atmospheres where both sides demand everything from each other. As long as everything stays within bounds, that's fine.” Said Tim Walter during the Thursday Press Conference. Memories of last season’s last game of the season victory, which secured the play off place, should live short in the players heads of an enjoyable day at the Ostseestadion. Hopefully a repeat of those feelings!

Match Facts:
Fixture with (Bundesliga) Tradition
Sunday (5 February, from 1.15 p.m. live on HSVnetradio) will be the 28th competitive match between F.C. Hansa Rostock and Hamburger SV. It is interesting to note that all of the matches have been league games. Of the 27 games played so far, HSV have won 15. Five games ended in a draw, seven times the Rostock team had the better end in its favour. This was also the case in the reverse fixture, when Hansa won 1:0 thanks to a goal in injury time. Reparation desired!
Rostock's offensive woes
Only 17 goals scored after 18 match days (second worst in the league) speak for themselves: F.C. Hansa Rostock's offensive play is the main problem. The Kogge has created 19 chances so far this season (13th place), but has only managed to convert 26 percent (5) of them. Only Eintracht Braunschweig (2 of 12, 17 per cent) has an even worse rate. Rostock right-winger Kai Pröger has 6 goals on the season and has scored 35 percent of all FCH goals.
Home weakness vs. away strength
Good omens for HSV: F.C. Hansa Rostock have only won 3 of their 9 home games so far this season. 10 home points mean 16th place in the home table, only 1. FC Nürnberg (also 10, worse goal difference) and 1. FC Magdeburg (7 points in 8 games) are worse off. The Red Shorts, on the other hand, have established themselves as a real away power. 18 points from 8 games (6 wins, 2 defeats) cannot be beaten by any team. FC Kaiserslautern have 19 points on their away account, but have already played 9 games away from home. So the place in the sun in this statistic is within reach for Walter's charges!
