Match Preview vs Karlsruher SC
The evening topspiel returns to the Volksparkstadion for the final time this season as Karlsruher SC visit Hamburg for the second time this year.
Following a disappointing end to last week’s Englishe Woche, HSV need to go again for what is another important three game match week as the season starts to draw to a close.
A 4-0 victory over Erzgebirge Aue was sandwiched between two defeats to Paderborn and Holstein Kiel for Tim Walter’s side while Christian Eichner’s KSC twice played out a 2-2 draw against Fortuna Düsseldorf and Paderborn in the past week.
This will be the fourth meeting of the sides following the hinrunde’s 1-1 draw in Karlsruhe, a Winter training camp friendly and without forgetting that fantastic quarter final at the start of March at the Volksparkstadion.

Opponents Focus:
While we head into the final few matches of the season, KSC would probably resign that their season will play out without too much excitement although, a tough opponent this season, they will only be looking to finish the season as high as they can.
Eichner’s side its fairly well known to Walter with the previous encounter’s this season including the DFB Pokal Quarter final night that saw both 2.liga sides head to a penalty shootout to decide the winner.
KSC’s talisman Phillipp Hofmann will finally leave the club at the end of the season and their top goal scorer will no doubt be looking to finish his tenure with a few more goals and should also be the main worry. In other personnel news, goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck will be out for the rest of the season and will not feature tomorrow.

HSV News:
It seems for weeks every game has been very important for HSV and heading into the final five league games, that doesn’t stop yet. Another Englische Woche is ahead for Walter’s men has they face up against KSC, SC Frieburg (DFB Pokal) & Jahn Regensburg.
During the Press Conference on Thursday, Head Coach Walter spoke about his personnel for the Saturday evening clash, "Sonny Kittel will return to training tomorrow. He should be able to play on Saturday. Maximilian Rohr and Elijah Krahn are both out with minor muscle fibre tears. Apart from that, only Ludovit Reis is missing due to his yellow suspension. “
He reiterated the thoughts of development throughout his squad this season by saying: We have the most possession, the highest passing accuracy, create the second most chances and have the fourth most shots on goal. So, in fact, there is a development. As I said, we want and need more efficiency in front of goal! It's about conviction and consistency.”

The Match Facts :
Big Anniversary
Hamburger SV will play their 1000th match at home against KSC since the Bundesliga was founded in 1963. 539 wins, 246 draws and 214 defeats have been recorded in the 999 home matches so far. The two highest home victories were 8:0 (12.02.1966) and 7:0 (17.05.2008) against today's opponents from Karlsruhe. A good omen for the anniversary!
Robust Rothosen
The fact that HSV is one of the better offensive teams in the league and has the most possession (62.4 per cent) is well known after 29 match days. But the Reds are also very present when working against the ball. A duel rate of 51.8 percent is only topped by the Kiel sturgeons (52.1). So far, the Rothosen have had the seventh most duels (6,224) of all teams. On the ground (5,151), no other team even went into duels more often.
Goalscorers Battle
HSV attacker Robert Glatzel and KSC centre-forward Philipp Hofmann have each scored 17 goals this season and share 2nd place in the scoring charts behind Simon Terodde (FC Schalke 04, 22 goals) and together with Guido Burgstaller (FC St. Pauli) and Marvin Ducksch (Werder Bremen). While Glatzel has scored the important 1:0 seven times (league high), Hofmann, who is strong on the ball, has scored in five 2.Bundesliga games in a row - including the recent 2:2 draw in Paderborn, when he scored his 50th goal in his 100th competitive game for KSC. This goal-scoring duel promises to be particularly exciting!
