“That was a top team performance”
"Die Rothosen” were very pleased with their day’s work following a dominant 2-0 home win against Hansa Rostock. Here is the immediate match reaction:
Heuer Fernandes: It is very cool to keep a clean sheet, but the joy in the way we approached the game makes me even happier. If you saw the game today, there was no doubt about it from the first minute. We went into tackles, pressed early and our opponents only had the idea of playing long balls. We were also good on second balls, so it was a very dominant performance. That was a top team performance.
Laszlo Benes: Today, we had full control of the game from the very first minute. We were compact in defence and almost didn’t let anything through. In the second half, Ferro then made a brilliant save. We maybe could’ve made it 1-0 even earlier in the first half, but, most of all I am proud of the team for keeping a clean sheet again.
Ludovit Reis: The shoulder injury hurt initially for ten minutes, but then during the game you have so much adrenaline that it goes away really quickly – especially when you also score a goal. My dad and my mother are on my shinpads which is why I took them out and celebrated with them. We are on the right path but we have to keep going and keep the quality high in training. We have to get even better still in the fine details.
Tim Walter: It was a difficult game. We knew that it would be beforehand. Rostock are compact and defend incredibly intensely. It was clear that we would have to stay patient and work our opponents apart. We did that well, even if we then luckily went ahead through a well-worked counterattack. We then added to the score immediately after the break, defended the rest of the pitch well and the only thing is we didn’t get that third goal. It was a matter of patience against a very good team who asked everything of us. We stood up to this test which I am very pleased about.
Alois Schwartz: Congratulations to HSV on the 2-0 win. It was clear that they were just on another level. If you want to take something away from here then a lot needs to go right, but allowing yourself to be countered on when you have a throw-in by your opponent’s corner flag just before half time is playground football. Then we had to shake ourselves back into action,, we spoke about this at half time but then conceded the second goal immediately after half time. Then it becomes difficult and HSV just control the ball, they have the players to do that. it was a deserved win.
