"Always strive for the maximum".
Coach Tim Walter had scheduled two training session for wednesday. Full concentraion on 1.FC Nürnberg, where the coach is likely to change up his line-up.
After the preparation for the home match against 1. FC Nuremberg began on Tuesday around the Volksparkstadion, coach Tim Walter made Wednesday an all-round working day. Early morning meeting plus first session, followed by lunch together and training number two in the afternoon. "It's all about work," the coach likes to say, and his team really got to work on Wednesday, after all, they are aiming for their fifth home win in a row against FCN on Saturday. The Nurembergers are coming with former HSV coach Dieter Hecking, who recently took over the coaching duties from Markus Weinzierl and enjoyed a 1-0 win over SV Sandhausen in his first game. Dismissal of the coach, new coach, sense of achievement - for Walter, all this plays only a secondary role. "No matter how and under what circumstances, nobody gives us anything in this league, because against HSV everyone gives more than 100 per cent," said Walter, who also expects nothing less from the club: "They won't give us anything and come to Hamburg to win the game."
Walter doesn't want to look at the opponent at all, however, for him the focus is on his own team. "We work a lot, the team learns every day and especially in every game," says the coach, who promises with a view to the 23rd matchday: "We always strive for the maximum, so we will try everything again on Saturday to reach our performance limits. If we can do that, we have a very good chance of winning the game."
Moritz Heyer, who will miss the match due to a yellow suspension, will not be able to help. He could be replaced by Noah Katterbach, who was last substituted for Heyer in Darmstadt. Or William Mickelbrencis. "William is getting better and better and is getting stuck into every training session, I'm very happy with him," praised Walter, who also firmly expects Bakery Jatta to play from the start again: "I've always said that Baka is actually irreplaceable for us, and I'm sticking to that." But regardless of the exact constellation - the coach believes in his team, which he sees on a good path: "We're learning and getting better, because we keep getting new facets to our game, and that's good." So that week after week they get even closer to the maximum.
