Interview
12.03.22
Boldt: "Starting Monday, preparation for Düsseldorf".
In an interview with hsv.de, HSV board member Jonas Boldt talks about the cancellation of the match against Erzgebirge Aue at short notice and the handling of the Corona cases.
HSV.de: The cancellation of the home match against Erzgebirge Aue at very short notice has caused incomprehension or at least astonishment among the opponents and many fans. Why did the DFL only confirm the cancellation late on Friday evening?
Jonas Boldt: The main reason is that the responsible DFL officials have to adhere strictly to their guidelines. We already had initial contact with the federation and the health authorities at the beginning of the week, because after the first case and the subsequent major infection incident, there was unfortunately a clear trend in our squad and coaching staff. From that moment on, there was a dedicated line between Frankfurt, the Hamburg authorities and us - and a lot of testing. Late on Friday evening, there was another positive result in a further series of tests, which were examined in the laboratory certified by the DFL and assigned to us. When this verified result was sent, there was confirmation from the federation.
Can you understand the frustration and incomprehension?
Of course, we didn't like this long wait either. That's why we approached all parties involved early on. But I can also understand that the DFL has to abide by the match regulations and the rules laid down in them.
How is HSV now dealing with the Corona situation in the squad and coaching staff?
We are in constant contact with all those involved and hope that all cases will go smoothly and that no more will be added. We will start preparing for our next game in Düsseldorf on Monday and hope that we will be able to play this game regularly.
There was something going on in the Volksparkstadion today even without a match. HSV invited refugees from Ukraine and their companions as well as helpers to lunch, after food had already been ordered and delivered for the home match against Aue. How did this action come about?
It was a spontaneous idea that was planned after the cancellation of the match during the night and then spread this morning by the entire HSV network with offices, foundation, club, members, supporters and fans and implemented by volunteers and staff in the "Raute". I think it's great when we can help with our energy and our possibilities. And of course it also makes sense not to have to dispose of all the food. The refugees from Ukraine, the committed helpers and also the fans from Aue who had already arrived and whom we invited to lunch and stadium tours, all enjoyed it. And we enjoyed it very much.
Thank you for the interview.
