Boldt: "We are working on this at full speed".
HSV board member Jonas Boldt is at the Spanish training camp and spoke in a media round on the sidelines of the training ground on Thursday about personnel planning during the current transfer window.
In the Spanish training camp, things are being tackled at all levels. The coaching team is working with the team twice a day on the pitch, the physio team is busy, the kit attendants and team manager are working extra shifts and the sporting management is also in constant action: board member Jonas Boldt and chief scout Claus Costa are in Sotogrande, because "it is very good to use the days in the training camp to be very close to the team, to follow the training sessions and to hold talks," says Boldt. At the same time, however, he and Costa are working on pushing ahead with personnel planning, which is the focus of the current transfer window due to Mario Vuskovic's suspension and Tim Leibold's departure.
"Unfortunately, we don't know until today how the story with Mario Vuskovic will continue, so we would like to do something on the centre-back position," Boldt explained on Thursday on the sidelines of the training pitch, where the first Vuskovic substitute was missing from team training due to a slight muscle fibre tear, however. "Fortunately, however, Jonas David's injury is not that serious and the probability is high that he will be ready for action again by the first match," Boldt said.
"Nevertheless, it is of course not ideal that he has injured himself just now for the training camp. Nevertheless, it's not about finding someone quickly so that we can train properly," said the 40-year-old, explaining the trade-off between short-termism and quality, "rather, it's about finding someone who will help us in the second half of the season together with Jonas and Sebastian Schonlau. And if that takes a few days longer, then it will take a little longer."
"We are looking at different ideas"
The same applies to the position at left back, where Boldt attests to Miro Muheim's good development, but of course wants to be prepared for anything: "Of course, we're looking into the left-back position and dealing with different ideas." Accordingly, Boldt and Costa are often seen on the phone in the training camp, the aim being to "use the network", as the board calls it. And that means many, many conversations. "That is our task and I am convinced that we have good ideas and solutions and that their implementation will succeed," says Boldt, "we are working on that at full speed."
