HSV Supports the "Hamburg räumt auf!" campaign

For environmental protection and a clean Hamburg: HSV took part in the "Hamburg räumt auf!" Campaign as part of a corporate volunteering day.

Clean footpaths, litter-free green strips and wooded areas in and around Hamburg's Volkspark - with this goal in mind, HSV employees, including the professional team, HSV women's players and employees of the marketing company SPORTFIVE set out today (Tuesday) to pick up and collect litter near the Volkspark stadium.

Equipped with rubbish bags, tongs and protective gloves, the HSV team went to work as part of a Corporate Volunteering* Day and made a lasting contribution to environmental protection. Last year, HSV had already supported the city cleaning campaign initiated by Stadtreinigung Hamburg in cooperation with the Ministry for the Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture with a small group. This year, the campaign period (24 February - 5 March) was deliberately set early in the year so as not to disturb nesting birds later.

At the end of the morning, more than 50 filled rubbish bags were collected, which will be picked up and disposed of properly by the city cleaning service. Through the voluntary commitment of its employees, HSV thus ensured an even more beautiful Hamburg in the spirit of ecological responsibility. After the work was done, the Corporate Volunteering Day ended for the participants with a joint lunch.

"We gave our employees the opportunity to get involved together as corporate volunteers as part of the "Hamburg räumt auf!" campaign," says Marieke Patyna, Chief Strategy, People & Sustainability Officer HSV Fußball AG. "We are delighted that today more than 120 colleagues, including our licence team and the HSV women, were out and about on the paths around the Volksparkstadion to collect the rubbish lying around as well as to draw attention to the conscious handling of waste and sustainable consumption. The Corporate Volunteering Day gave us a valuable change of perspective."

 *What is Corporate Volunteering?
The term corporate volunteering is used to describe all company activities in which employees commit their time and/or knowledge to charitable projects. There are various options for implementing the projects. For example, companies can either embed volunteering in corporate activities or support their employees in privately conducted activities.
