“Incredible team performance!”
After emerging resounding 4-0 winners from their fixture away to Darmstadt, HSV will have the chance to seal promotion next time out with a win over SSV Ulm. The Rothosen were in understandably positive mood following proceedings.
Sebastian Schonlau: It is really impressive to have won this game so convincingly by the 4-0 score line that we have under the pressure that we were. It was clear to us that we would need to keep another clean sheet and everyone was intent on making that happen. The goals then came naturally as a result of the team’s display to cap off a perfect day at the office. Next weekend marks the scenario we have wanted to be in. For me, it is extremely annoying to be suspended for the match but that’s of no matter to the team as we always perform as a group.
Jonas Meffert: We saw an incredible team performance today! We showed immense team spirit on that pitch today and totally deserved the win. Everyone was playing for each other and with so much shared confidence. The build up for the goals was also superb. Everything just came together today even despite Darmstadt giving a good showing. The win was really crucial in light of last week’s performance and we now want to give it our all alongside our fans to get over the line next weekend.
"We emphatically demonstrated our togetherness today" Davie Selke
Davie Selke: We emphatically demonstrated our togetherness today, coping really well in a tricky contest and adapting to the game as it progressed. At the back, we defended everything and had to deal with some pressure to begin with. The coaching staff and Stefan Kuntz found the right words following the poor performance against Karlsruhe. We are really pleased about how today went, coming through a tough test, and are now looking forward to the next game against Ulm after which we hope to be celebrating with the fans.
Miro Muheim: It went just how we would have wanted! We aimed to be positive from the off, pushing hard and showing intensity in everything we did. That is precisely what we did. We knew that we could not simply turn up and run away with things because it would be a full throttle affair in which we would need to bring the fight. We did that well and took the game into our own hands thanks to our strength at corners. The fans helped us on the way to this important win and we are now looking forward to the next home game.
Ransford Königsdörffer: We wanted to win this game for ourselves. We fought for everything, defended as a unit and played well going forward. This win was so important in keeping us on the right track to now be really excited for the next match at home. In order to have the chance to celebrate there next time out, we needed to do our job today and that we did, assisted by our fans. The emotion on show was incredible in the away block after the game. Today was really special
"It wasn’t about playing perfect football today, but about showing resistance" Merlin Polzin
Merlin Polzin: Our game plan really came to fruition today. We knew that Darmstadt would put us under a lot of pressure at the start, and that we’d have to survive that phase. We did well and battled our way into the game. It wasn’t about playing perfect football today, but about showing resistance, winning challenges, and building a solid base that allowed us to play our game. I’m really proud of the team and my staff, as we stood together and overcame the challenge in front of us.
Florian Kohfeldt: We started well, were the better side early on, and had chances to score. We still ended up going behind though, and we struggled to recover from there against a side that played with real cleverness. We still gave it our absolute all though and tried our hardest to get back into contention, but we ended up being picked off on the counter for their third and fourth goals. HSV certainly deserved their win today, even if the 4-0 scoreline doesn’t reflect the game
