Katterbach back in full training
Noah Katterbach was back in full training with his teammates on Tuesday for the first time since the knee injury he suffered in January. The 24-year-old has now fought his way back from a second ACL tear inside two and a half years.
Tuesday’s session to start the new week was a normal one for almost all of the Rothosen, but not for left-back Noah Katterbach. The 24-year-old was back in full training for the first time since tearing the ACL in his right knee on 10th January. “I’m really pleased to have made my first tackles since the injury and to have taken part in the full session. We will continue to manage my workload over the coming days, but for the moment it was just nice to be back with the rest of the team,” said Katterbach after the session.

Katterbach, who has made 40 Bundesliga appearances to date, required just 179 days (around 6 months) to make his return, which is particularly impressive given that he tore the ACL in his other knee while on loan at HSV in April 2023 and was back in team training in the same year as well. “A big thank you goes to Sebastian Capel and the HSV medical team, who supported me in the best possible way on my journey back,” added Katterbach, who permanently moved from 1. FC Köln to Hamburg in early 2024. The many hours spent with rehabilitation coach Capel are fondly remembered by the Simmerath native, but now he wants to continue his comeback story on the pitch. And the next big step has been taken.
