Königsdörffer: “You can always improve”
In a media round after training, Berlin-born Ransford Königsdörffer spoke about his time at Hertha BSC, his development at HSV and his ambitions as a part of the Ghanaian national team.
HSV’s successful start to the season (two wins and a draw from three games) is, in part, thanks to Ransford Königsdörffer. He’s started both league games and was brought on at the start of extra time in the 4-3 victory over Essen in the Pokal. Things are working out for “Ransi”, who has 11 goal involvements (ten goals, one assist) to his name in 38 games since his switch to Hamburg in the summer of 2022. Ahead of the upcoming home game against Hertha BSC, the 21 year-old spoke to the media to discuss his native Berlin, his time in Hertha’s youth set-up, and his ambitions as part of the Ghanaian national team.
Our number 11 on...
... his time at Hertha BSC: I still occasionally talk to some of the boys I played with in Berlin, like Marton Dardai or Martin Winkler. My family and a lot of my friends also still live in Wedding, so I certainly have a strong connection with the city. However, my time at Hertha came to an end because of two injuries, which is pretty unlucky.
... his personal development: I think that I’ve already improved at HSV but there’s always room for more. I’ve got to get myself into more one-on-one situations, improve tactically and be more disciplined off the ball.
... AFCON in winter: There hasn’t been an international break yet so I’ve hardly thought about it. The head coach rings me up a lot though and we’re in contact. When all is said and done, I’ve got to to deliver the goods; the rest will take care of itself.
