Vuskovic: "We have different solutions for every situation".
The day after the 2-0 away win in Nürnberg, the Croatian centre-back spoke about his goal to make it 1-0, his special strength in standard situations and the state of the league.
With a powerful volley, Mario Vuskovic paved the way for HSV's third away win of the season in the 37th minute of the second division top match at 1. FC Nürnberg yesterday. It was preceded by a short corner, which Meffert struck from the half-left area in a high arc towards the second post, where Moritz Heyer headed back to the Croatian centre-back, who grew up as a midfielder in his homeland until the age of 15 and once again showed that he has not lost his finishing qualities. After the perfectly presented corner kick variation, the net fizzled behind Christian Mathenia, who had no chance. It was the decisive goal of the match, which sent the FCN to the brink early on and from which the club did not recover in the further course of the game. Not least because Vuskovic and his front and side men did what they do best in the rest of the game: defend. The Hamburg side, dressed in all-white, hardly allowed anything to happen, delivered a mature performance and kept a clean sheet for the fourth time in their sixth league match.
The day after the 2-0 win in Frankenland, in which Robert Glatzel and Ludovit Reis combined for the second goal in injury time, which was ultimately credited to HSV's top scorer, "Vuskovic-Volley" was the man in demand and faced the journalists present in a media round. Among other things, the 20-year-old spoke about ...

... his goal for 1:0: "Of course I'm happy about the goal. We practise standard situations all the time in training, so it makes you even happier when a move like that works in competition. That was the plan. Tapa (co-trainer Filip Tapalovic, editor's note) always rehearses such standards with us. It's a constant process that we started at the beginning of the preparation. We have different solutions for every situation: we can play short or direct. It's good to have such variations.
... the game in Nuremberg: It was a great team performance. We prepared very well for the opponent in the training week and then followed the plan of the coaching team well in the game. We controlled the game and absolutely deserved the victory. In the end, that's what counts: a win and three points!
... the state of the league: There are many good teams in the league. The 2nd division is very intense and interesting because anyone can beat anyone. That makes it unpredictable and wild. We already know this situation from last season and we feel well prepared: We have a good team, a good staff and we are confident that we can achieve great things this season.
... the away strength: For me, there is no difference between playing at home and away. I even like home games a bit more because we have outstanding fans and even more of them are there. It's great that we've been so strong away from home so far, but there's no real explanation for that in my eyes. We want to be successful at home as well. We want to change that. We want to start a run and also win our home games.
