"We have to get the luck on our side".
One day before the second-round match in the DFB Cup at 1. FC Nürnberg, HSV head coach Tim Walter spoke in a media round about the relevant topics surrounding the Rothosen.
It's been one hit after the other. After the emotional last-minute victory in Paderborn last Friday evening (22 October, 2:1), the Red Shorts travel to Nuremberg tomorrow (26 October, kick-off: 20:45) to play their second-round match in the DFB Cup at the tradition-steeped Max Morlock Stadium. The hitherto unbeaten "Club" represents a high hurdle as the host, but Tim Walter and his charges are determined to overcome it. The HSV head coach explained today in a media round on the sidelines of the final training session how and with which personnel they can succeed in reaching the round of 16.
The 45-year-old spoke in detail about...
... the strengths of 1. FC Nürnberg: "Defensively, they don't allow much and are dangerous offensively. Last weekend, they scored four goals against Heidenheim, and before that, one goal was often enough to win. We were in a good position in the first leg, but unlike us, they were very effective. That's where we have to start. We have to be even more consistent and have luck on our side.
... a possible rotation in the starting eleven: We have a qualitatively good squad, everyone can theoretically play. That is also very important for us. Nevertheless, we can still develop further. But I don't have the Kiel game (on Saturday, editor's note) in the back of my mind yet, because we want to play in Nuremberg tomorrow and win there. That's our first goal, then we'll get back to the league.
... the role of Tommy Doyle The players have to push their limits in training and show me that they want to play. The numbers and data fit Tommy, but there are still areas he needs to work on. The intensity against the ball is extremely important in the 2nd Bundesliga, he always has to be awake and ready in counter-pressing. He's doing that more and more and that's why he's also rewarding himself on the offensive.
... the journey on match day: It's best to sleep at home, and with an evening match the lead time at the hotel is also very long. But in a short week with three games, it's also about regeneration time and other factors.
