"We have to take this feeling with us now".
Joy, confidence and enthusiasm were high in the ranks of the Rothosen after the 4-0 victory over Erzgebirge Aue. The Voice's from the Match.
Evening game, floodlights, 90 minutes of great atmosphere from the stands and a deserved 4:0 victory on the pitch - this football evening could not have gone better from HSV's point of view. On Tuesday evening (5 April), HSV welcomed FC Erzgebirge Aue in cold, wet Hamburg weather, dominated the game, won both halves and thus achieved a deserved home victory. The final score was 4:0 (2:0), which put a smile on the faces of all HSV players. No wonder after a dry spell of five games without a win, such a success is doubly good. The protagonists talked about how it felt in detail and what lessons and strengths can be drawn from this sense of achievement after the game.
Jonas Meffert: We created a lot of chances today, were more consistent than against Paderborn and, in contrast to the game on Saturday, were also lucky in one or two scenes not to be a few centimetres offside. We are very happy that after five games without a win, we were finally able to cheer with the fans again today and give them this three-point win. And after this phase, we all lost a little something, and it's okay to admit that. That's why it feels very, very good for us today, but we also know that we have to move on now and that we have to do better on Sunday in Kiel.
Maxi Rohr: It wasn't an easy game, but it did us an incredible amount of good to take the lead again. That was important, and afterwards I think we played well and used the spaces well and consistently when Aue had to open up and act more offensively in the second half. At the back, we didn't allow anything and played a very dominant game overall, so the win is deserved even at this level. We now have to take this feeling with us into the next tasks, because it continues seamlessly.
"The boys showed a lot of enthusiasm for the game" Tim Walter
Tim Walter: It took us a while to get into the game at the beginning, but we still tried to play up front. The only difference to Saturday was that we were a bit more precise in our passing and also in our passing. And we took the lead again after a long time. That was good for us. It's easier to play with a lead. Sonny's goal at half-time gave us an extra boost. In the second half, we were very present. The boys showed a lot of enthusiasm. You could feel the support for our way everywhere today.
Pavel Dotchev: It was to be expected that it would be difficult for us today. We tried to rotate a bit without having a drop in performance. In the first half, we were decent on the pitch at the start. We played compactly and were able to make a few pinpricks. HSV was then more dominant. With the second goal right at the half-time whistle, it was already a small preliminary decision. As time went on, HSV increased their pressure and beat us. The victory was absolutely in order.
