"We showed from the start that we wanted to win this game."
April) voraus.
When referee Patrick Alt ended HSV's home match against Karlsruher SC punctually after 90 minutes, a mixture of joy and relief could be seen on the faces of the Rothosen professionals. The setback in Kiel six days ago (10 April, 0:1) had left its mark, so today's sense of achievement was all the more important. A concentrated performance resulted in a highly deserved 3:0, which not only brought three points but also a lot of self-confidence. Accordingly, the fans were satisfied with the result and already looked ahead to next Tuesday. The Reds will then welcome SC Freiburg to the Volksparkstadion for the DFB Cup semi-final (19 April, kick-off: 8.30 pm).
Mario Vuskovic: "We controlled the game from kick-off to the final whistle and put in a very good performance. Today we brought everything we have to the pitch, also in the emotional area. Of course I'm very happy that I scored my first goal for HSV and helped the team. But on Tuesday against Freiburg it will be a completely different game, we have to put our best performance on the pitch. Our dream is to go to Berlin.
Jonas Meffert: The yellow card played right into our hands, of course, especially since Mario shot the free kick into the corner afterwards. It was clear that we would have a lot of possession when we were outnumbered and that we would have to stop KSC's counterattacks. But it was not really dangerous. The match luck was finally on our side again today, but we were also gripping from the start and deserved to win. We have to take the energy with the fans into the cup match against Freiburg.
Tim Walter: We showed from the beginning that we wanted to win this game. We had a brutal energy. With what passion and with what power the boys perform, how they are happy, it's nice to see. It's a great feeling to be part of this squad. Throughout the game, you could see that we were playing very confidently despite our young age. We created a lot of chances and allowed very few. I think we saw a good performance from my team. Now we are looking forward to Tuesday. The cup match will be a nice fight.
Christian Eichner: The story of the game is told relatively quickly. The opening phase went to HSV, after a few minutes we took part properly and were able to stress the opponent in front. We had a promising chance through Philip Hofmann. After that came the double and the yellow-red card. Then it becomes difficult. In the second half, it was all about keeping the result open for as long as possible. The team did a good job in the second half. They also got a compliment for their effort. HSV's victory was absolutely deserved.
