Match Preview vs Greuther Fürth
The penultimate game of the hinrunde is already here and we’re heading to Fürth midweek in the 2. Bundesliga.
Two to go, Fürth are up next in Bavaria on Wednesday evening before we draw the first half of the season to a close. Both teams are sitting at opposite ends of the 2. Liga table, different periods of form, and both pushing to go higher in the table. The first meeting between the sides in two years before Fürth clinched promotion ahead of HSV, and it looks to be as always a tight encounter.

Our Opponents:
Greuther Fürth haven’t quite adapted themselves back to 2. Liga life. The side recently relegated from the Bundesliga have sat mostly near the foot of the table once again this season. Although, this year they are one league lower. After having already changed management this season. Things have started heading slightly upwards down in Bavaria. Losing Stefan Leitl in the summer to Hannover 96 lead to big changes, and now Alexander Zorniger has been left to pick up the pieces. A few former HSV players sit in the Fürth ranks, Gideon Jung and Jeremy Dudziak now lining up in Green and White.

HSV Round Up:
A positive result and performance at the weekend will lift the spirits once again of the HSV. Following the important win in Paderborn, the three points collected at home to Regensburg at the weekend there was another indication of heading in the right way. No new updates regarding injuries but Anssi Suhonen was called up for the Finnish National team this week for the first time! Well done Anssi!

Match Facts:
Stable home team vs. away kings
HSV is the most successful away team not only in the 2nd division, but in all of German professional football. 6 out of 7 games on foreign grounds were won - and the only defeat, as is well known, even took place within Hamburg... This means that the Hamburg team has an absolutely clean record outside the city limits. But: Away game number 8 takes place at a team that has lost only 1 of 8 home games despite a fundamentally unsatisfactory start to the season. A very strong value for Fürth.
Fürth's rise in form
If you like, the match between SpVgg Greuther Fürth and HSV is a top match of sorts. At least if you look at the form table. Before the 16th matchday, only Bayern and the North Germans - apart from Fortuna Düsseldorf - managed to win their 2 most recent matches. For Fürth, these were also the first two games under new coach Alexander Zorniger, who thus enters his 3rd game as SGF coach unbeaten, without losing a point and without conceding a goal.

On Top with and against the ball
HSV coach Tim Walter's game is geared towards possession, that's no secret. That the Rothosen are able to implement this is not only shown by many strong ball relays, as recently against Regensburg, but also by the numbers: With 86.6% of passes received, HSV has the best passing rate in the league, and so far only 1. FC Magdeburg has more possession than Hamburg (59.0%). HSV is not only good with the ball, but also against it: With 52.1% of duels won, the Hamburg team around Ludovit Reis is the second best duel fighter in the league.
