Squad update as a new week of training begins
Miro Muheim, Lukasz Poreba and Anssi Suhonen were all back working with the team as HSV began a new week of training on Tuesday. A return is also on the horizon for Immanuel Pherai as he continued to train with the ball individually, while Sebastian Schonlau hit the weights.
The HSV players went back to basics to kick off a new week of training, but there was an added element of competition. They weaved through slalom poles and traffic cones over and over again, with the difficulty of the drills being increased every so often. The Rothosen, split into five groups of five players, faced off against one another in a variety of exercises, some involving a ball at their feet. After every drill was completed, a round of press-ups was on the agenda for the losing teams. The Rothosen faced off against one another for 75 minutes in total. It was a session characterised by pure intensity, team spirit, and the desire to win. The players cheered each other on and passionately protested any decisions that didn’t go their way.
Back from long-term injuries, Lukasz Poreba and Anssi Suhonen were fully involved in this intense training session, alongside left-back Miro Muheim (photo), who missed the 2-1 loss in Osnabrück due to a ligament strain. The Swiss took part in the majority of the first training session of the week ahead of the game against Fortuna Düsseldorf and, as agreed in advance, stopped training early as the intensity increased. However, Poreba and Suhonen completed the full session with the rest of the team. Midfielder Immanuel Pherai (broken toe) and Sebastian Capel trained on a separate pitch, concentrating on the technical aspect of their game. HSV captain Sebastian Schonlau (calf problems) was not out on the pitch, but completed some physiotherapy and a strength-and-conditioning session at the training centre. The hard work continues on Tuesday with two training sessions at the Volkspark.
