Match summary:
6’: HSV get lucky. Gladbach win four corners in the opening six minutes; one finds its way indirectly to Oxford, whose volleys from ten yards out strikes the underside of the crossbar and bounces off to land just in front of the goal line.
9’: 1-0! The luck comes to an end. Gladbach attack down the right side of the pitch, Stindl finds Raffael in the middle, who passes on to the running Hazard and he chips Mathenia from close range.
18’: HSV reply: Hunt crosses in a free kick and finds Mavraj at the far post, who heads toward the top corner and beats Gladbach keeper Sommer, but Stindl is at the far post to make a headed goal-line clearance.
21’: It’s the Rothosen again: Kostic passes the ball to Hahn at the penalty spot, who rounds Vestergaard and only has Sommer to beat, but Vestergaard tackle Hahn from behind and sends the ball out for a corner.
23’: Gladbach push forwards again: Cuisance passes to Raffael, who is making a run and is free in front of Mathenia, but the keeper saves strongly to push the ball wide of the right post.
38’: The woodwork comes into play again: Gladbach launch another attack through Cuisance again, but this time he doesn’t pass and instead tries his luck from 20 yards – and what an effort! His powerful shot strikes the left post.
52’: Hunt takes a free kick, but Gladbach are able to clear and Raffael passes the ball against pressure from the Rothosen through to Hazard, who sprints alone from the half-way line towards Mathenia, but the keeper remains cool to win the one-on-one in sensation style.
53’: 1-1! The attention switches to the other end of the pitch: Hunt hits the ball down the middle sweetly to set up the running Hahn, who turns and beats Sommer from ten yards out. Yes!!!
64’: Mathenia saves again: Gladbach attack down the right and Herrmann cannot be stopped down the right wing. Raffael is positioned at the close post, but Mathenia reacts well to save the header from close range.
74’: 2-1! Gladbach retake the lead! Stindl intercepts a Papadopoulos pass and passes to Grifo, who sends it on the Raffael on the left. Raffael places his shot into the left corner from 15 yards out and Mathenia is powerless to stop it going in.
79’: 3-1! The game is decided: Stindl passes the ball down the channel to Hazard, who first shakes off Douglas then also rounds Mathenia and passes back to Raffael from the goal line and Raffael taps in from close range. Game over!
